We just released our guide to November’s elections. Now it’s your turn: ask us anything about this busy election cycle.

November is fast approaching, and while a handful of races are hogging the spotlight, there are thousands of local races all around the country that will shape public policy—from deciding who will lead some of the nation’s most populous cities to unlocking billions in spending for parks, schools, and transit.

In our guide to the key elections, you’ll find more than 180 items to watch, including races for governors, lawmakers, sheriffs, prosecutors, city councilors, and school board members. Our team has mobilized all year to break down the stakes of these elections for you, with a special focus on criminal justice and voting rights issues—our two core topics.

And now we want to hear from you, our readers: What questions do you have about the state and local elections that will be decided in November?

Daniel Nichanian, our editor in chief who pays close attention to local elections, will answer as many of your questions as he can in the run-up to November. So ask him anything!

And if your question alerts us to an obscure race or confusing dynamic we’ve neglected, there’s still time for more reporting from our team. So we hope to hear from you!

Are you curious about the races that could influence voting rights in your area? Wondering how local candidates are proposing to reshape practices in the criminal legal system? What about local ballot measures or state governments that may flip partisan control?

Let Daniel know in the form below. And remember, no question is too simple—help us break things down for you—nor is anything too in the weeds for Bolts.

The form will stay open through October 20, but we’ll begin reviewing questions starting on October 10.

This project is part of our ongoing Ask Bolts series in which we tackle reader questions.
