Who Is Running for DA and Sheriff in California in 2022?
District attorneys and sheriffs, in California as elsewhere, are key local officials who can shape policies on sentencing, policing, and other criminal justice policies. In 2022, all California counties will have at least one of these two offices on the ballot; nearly all will have both.
Below are the candidates who filed to run for prosecutor and sheriff by the state’s filing deadline in March. The primary election is on June 7; if no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote recipients will move on to a November runoff.
